June marked an expected slowdown for light rail ridership as ASU students headed home and Arizona heated up - keeping tourists away. Average weekday ridership slipped below 30,000 for the first time.
I expect July and August numbers to stay pretty low as well. Since this is the first year of the light rail, every month is setting the benchmark against which months in future years will be judged. So next year's data will be closely watched for the year over year change.
